Career Choices: Online tool paints a picture of what students may earn in their chosen careers

Finding the right job

Follow your dreams, or pursue a career that pays? Do what you love, or do what's practical and financially secure?

If your students are like most, they're wrestling with the question of what to do with their lives — at least in terms of their careers. For many, the money factor plays a big part in their decision.

That's why Adventures In Education (AIE™) provides Career Choices, a tool that helps students get an accurate picture of what others in their chosen field earn. Rather than guessing at which careers might pay better or worse, students can base their decisions on reliable data.

Drawing on information from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Career Choices provides a wealth of information, including:

  • Localized salary information for hundreds of careers in hundreds of cities around the country
  • Potential income growth over time
  • Number of people employed in a career in a given city
  • Links to information on similar careers

With tuition costs and student debt levels on the rise, it's never too soon for students to plan for their financial futures, given their likely salaries. The Career Choices tool can help your students make more informed decisions.

Students and families can find the online tool and other college planning resources at www.AIE.org/CareerChoices.
