  • Record all dates in your personal calendar for conferences and counseling events that you plan to attend. Refer to the section on this page that lists conferences and events.
  • Record all dates for parent presentations, test administrations, and any other activities on your school and district calendars. You will want to reserve your times now. Don't forget to reserve any rooms in your building that may be needed for your presentation or testing sessions.
  • Unpack all ACT and SAT test registration materials. Place fee waivers, disability forms, extra order forms and other important materials in a secure place.
  • Continue to resolve student course selection conflicts.
  • Review student schedules to adjust for summer school attendance, credit by examination results, or completion of correspondence courses.
  • Prepare bulletin boards (or enlist parent or student help) with pertinent counseling information such as college nights, test dates, etc.
  • Prepare materials for new student registration.
  • Prepare materials for new student/parent orientation events or sessions.
  • Begin preparing a list of new student names for your teachers.
  • Review plans and materials for any special freshmen orientation sessions.
  • Meet with campus administrators to review information on new students, review policies and procedures and update if needed, prepare a first day of school game plan, and schedule early school year events.
