If you've ever saved coins in a jar, you know how fast they can add up. That's how saving money for college works.

Here's how to get started:

• Estimate how much it'll cost you to attend college.
• Decide how much you can afford to save on a regular basis.
• Make it a priority. If possible, set the money aside before you can even think about spending it.

The earlier you begin saving, the less you'll need to set aside each month or week. In the long run, anything you save helps. You might not be able to save enough to pay for college completely (few families can), but what you do save will reduce the amount you have to repay once you finish.
