Learn About Texas Student Loan Programs

Two student loan options offered by the state of Texas

The State of Texas offers two student loan programs to assist students in paying for college expenses. An overview of each program is provided below.

The Texas B-On-Time Loan Program

The Texas B-On-Time (BOT) Loan Program provides zero-interest loans to Texas undergraduate students. Since the program is designed to encourage Texas students to be on time for graduation while meeting high grade standards, the loan can be converted to a grant (that is, forgiven) for students who meet certain requirements.

For more information, visit the Texas BOT Program page.

The Texas College Access Loan Program

The Texas College Access Loan (CAL) Program is designed to help families make up part or all of the gap between cost and aid, or even replace what they are expected to pay (the EFC).

For more information, visit the Texas CAL Program page.
