Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and a minority student (including but not limited to American Indian/Alaskan Native, Asian/Pacific Islander, Black, or Hispanic) who has a master's degree in social work and is enrolled full-time in a doctoral social work program. For research fellowship, applicant should demonstrate potential and interest in mental health research, potential for success in doctoral studies, and commitment to a career in mental health research. For clinical fellowship, applicant should demonstrate potential for assuming leadership roles, potential for success in doctoral studies, and commitment to a career in providing mental health and/or substance abuse services to ethnic minority clients and communities. Clinical fellowship recipient must engage in clinical services within two years after award in specific areas of need for a period to time equal to the length of time award is received.
