Applicant must be a woman, at least 25 years of age, and a resident of Los Angeles County and/or officially accepted into a program of study at an accredited U.S. institution in Los Angeles County. Applicant must have high school diploma or GED and be currently recieving welfare/public assistance benefits or have been removed from welfare assistance programs within 24 months of applying for scholarship. Applicant must be recieving degree or certificate within 24 months from date of scholarship and plan to use the training to enter or reenter the workforce, or to move out of a low wage or obsolete job. Preference given to women who are potential first-generation college graduates, women studying accounting, business, computer/information sciences, health, health management, and other business-related fields, and women who previously received a BPW Foundation scholarship and who meet the above eligibility requirements. Applicant should enclose a business size #10, self-addressed, double-stamped envelope and write "scholarship" in the upper right-hand corner of the envelope to identify requested information.
