UAB Hosts Robotics Camp for High School Students

The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Computer and Information Sciences Department opened its doors this summer to a few lucky high school students. These students, who are there attending “Robotics Camp,” are learning java, a well-known computer programming language and building their own robots. In doing so, they will then be able to give specific, yet fun commands to the robots.

The students at the Camp seem to unanimously agree that this program has opened doors and is an interesting and exciting way to learn an otherwise challenging programming language. It also gives them a clearer, hands on sense of the computer science field—a career path that many of the Robotics Camp students are considering pursuit of after high school.
