Scheduling College Admissions Tests

Each week on AIEmail, there's an Important Dates link below the main feature. This link takes readers to a section with very important information for aspiring college students: the test schedule for upcoming SAT and ACT testing (http://www.aie.org/planning-for-college/going-to-college/schedule-college-admissions-testing.cfm).

The schedule has been updated for the 2012-2013 academic year, and it's a great idea to take the test early in the school year. That way, if you're not happy with your score and you want to try again, you're less likely to run out of time.

How important are these tests? According to a 2010 survey by the National Association for College Admission Counseling, college admissions officers ranked entrance exam scores in the top three admissions factors (behind grades in college prep courses and the strength of the student's high school curriculum).

Fortunately, AIE also has a page with advice for how to prepare for the tests, located here (http://www.aie.org/planning-for-college/making-choices/prepare-for-tests.cfm).
